The selection for the SEBI Officer Grade A (Assistant Manager) 2025 post is a three-stage process: Phase I, Phase II, and an Interview.

Phase I: Online Examination (Qualifying)

This is the initial screening stage, consisting of two papers. It is a mandatory hurdle, but the marks obtained here do not count towards the final merit score.

• Format: Two papers of Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
• Cut-off: Candidates must achieve a minimum cut-off in each paper as well as a required aggregate cut-off to be shortlisted for Phase II.
• Negative Marking: A penalty of 1/4th of the mark is applied for every incorrect answer.

Phase II: Online Examination (Main)

Candidates who qualify in Phase I proceed to this stage. It also consists of two papers, and the scores obtained in Phase II are the most important factor, carrying 85% weightage in the final selection.

• Paper I (Descriptive English): This paper is common for all streams and is a descriptive test (not MCQs) designed to assess drafting skills through questions like Essay Writing, Précis Writing, and Reading Comprehension.
• Paper II (Stream-Specific): This paper tests specialized knowledge relevant to the stream (General, Legal, IT, etc.). For most streams, this is an MCQ paper. However, for the Information Technology Stream, this paper is a Coding Test.
• Cut-off: Candidates must clear the minimum cut-off for each paper and the overall aggregate cut-off in Phase II to be eligible for the Interview.

Phase III: Interview

Candidates shortlisted based on their performance in Phase II are called for a personal interview.

• Assessment: The interview is conducted to assess the candidate’s personality, communication skills, general awareness, and overall suitability for the Grade A post.
• Weightage: The score from the Interview carries a 15% weightage in the final selection process.

The Final Selection is made based on the combined performance of the candidate in Phase II (85%) and the Interview (15%).
